The Web she Weaves!

Not by accident

There is little doubt people who engage in telling lies usually know what they are doing right from the start. They know they are lying. They plan their strategy of a parry here or a riposte there to control a debate and upset their opponent’s train of thought. With practice they can even control the timetable and agenda of the media. If the person holds a powerful position they start with an enormous media advantage over their opponent.

When Mrs Clinton and her snide surrogate husband complained, saying that Barack Obama had not been properly examined, the mainstream media immediately commenced a witchhunt. This crafty deception left her in clearwater. In reality Obama has spent far more time in elected public office than Hillary Clinton. It was vintage Clinton. A glowing example of how she had pulled another perfect riposte. It diverted media attention away from herself, and from having to prove the authenticity of her own”experience” claims. She has cried “Wolf” once too often!

However given time, truth will always out. And now one provable and not insignificant public porky pie, will finally cook her proverbial goose. Especially when a red faced media, realising they have been duped on more than one occasion, is now retaliating by giving the Bosnia lie sham extended exposure. Worse still for Clinton, none of her other claims of “experience” have been validated by those in a position to know. Hers is now a house fabricated in straw. The campaign heading right on course towards the rocks of Cape desperation and Point deceit. A fitting end.

When Hillary Rodham Clinton bitterly observes replays of Barack Obama’s hand on the Bible standing next to the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, with the Capitol in the background in January, she will know she has become an outsider. That her brand of politics is no longer acceptable. Whether or not she has a long term future in politics is anyone’s guess. Throughout this campaign both of the Clinton’s have revealed a side of politics and attitudes that Americans will no longer tolerate. The tide is turning.

At the end of this skirmish, the name Clinton may be so tarnished, it could in time finish on the lower shelf of political history, alongside that of Richard Nixon. As persona non grata.

Regardless of what some people do – there is never any joy in watching anyone self immolate. Surely that is the risk you take if you live in a house of straw. Sadly in some instances human nature and behaviour never changes.

The Campaign speaks

The Clinton campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson, claimed “she misspoke”. Isn’t that quaint. That is the true beauty of language at full stretch. I suppose when you are drawing as much money as he is you really can’t say to the media ” My boss is really desperate, what’s wrong with a bit of creative marketing expression? Oh! You don’t believe me? Allright I admit she’s been lying, but that’s off the record, OK?” I wonder where his next ‘job’ will be? Let’s hope he and Mark Penn get across to the Republicans. Their values equate.

The final word on the matter of credibility should go to the Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton, ” It’s disappointing to see Hillary Clinton’s campaign sink to this low in a transparent effort to distract attention away from the story she made up about dodging sniper fire in Bosnia. The American people deserve better than tired political games that do nothing to solve the larger challenges facing this country.”

Finale

Well said Bill Burton and checkmate! If you said those words on the floor of the Australian Parliament in similar circumstances the response would be a stamping of the feet with cries of hear! hear! Over the bar later the full expression of feeling would morph into “hear bloody hear”. And so say all of us! QED.
