I was not able to be at the swearing in as I wanted, due to not getting my visa in time, but it was just as inspiring watching it on TV, a black man being sworn in as the president of the U.S a.k.a the greatest office on earth, with the power to change nations destinies, if we can all take the belief that our destinies are in our own hands by the example he has shown and all strive for the good and betterment of others, what a world of good we would achieve.

I've been privleged over the past few months to read emails and articles from John Hay through [AmericansofIrishDescentforObama]
I just watched the inauguration and was moved to tears yet again. Barack Obama is the ONE who can lead with all of his amazing attributes you have mentioned above, yet he is humble. I have such high hopes for America. There is still a lot of hard work to be done, but this is the start of a new begining in our time and for our future generations.
Change has come, and YES WE DID!

This is a proud moment in history for all Americans,no matter what ethnic background. I first saw Barack in San Diego as a delegate from California, to listen to all the candidates, but Barack stole my heart. Without notes he inspired the crowds gathered.Soon after I volunteered making calls to other states supporting his vision to be our next President of the United States.Yes I am a Proud American to see this day make history.

It's cold and icy and there's snow here, but it's a warm and fuzzy day here in New York. I teach music, and today, in my elementary school music classes, my students will be watching the festivities, drawing pictures and writing letters to President Obama and singing patriotic songs. We made it.

I came across this post many months ago, I can't believe Obama is still in with a chance. Only 15 days to go. Anything can happen during this time, it is a crucial time.

I pray that history will be made.

May the Dream come alive. Wish you well Obama.

Hello John!

WOW! I am awe-inspired by the profile you wrote and, of course, the video….wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!! I am very inspired that someone on the other side of the world speaks, writes and understands the situation a lot better than many who live in America! There is hope for our world! I am a very proud 64 years of age woman of color, whose father was like Barack, a biracial child…and something I did not know until I was well into my 40’s and came across a picture of a Caucasian man in with some family photos my dad’s sister was showing me. She was surprised that I did not know that he was my grandfather….her and my dad’s father. She enlightened me that it is never generally mentioned by any of his children….because it just did not matter.

I think that background helped me have a larger world view of people. One of my father’s statements that I have always remembered and often site is that no one is any better than anyone else…that we all put our pants on one leg at a time. I ascribe to the thinking and statement of Jesus that God is no respecter of persons….and am widely known by folks who know me, and those I meet on my path as I travel around the country speaking to audiences….as a very loving person….an intention of mine….God is love and I intend to be a channel for that love to flow through. Thank you for your eloquence, and your conveyance to the world of a larger view. I too, believe that Barack Obama is the one. I also believe that his candidacy is also showing Americans that it is time to grow past the stupidity of judging some based on the hue of their complexion. The darkness in the world does not like the light and will do everything in its power to fight against it. Thankfully, the light always outshines darkness.

America has a divine opportunity to grow into higher consciousness and reclaim a more positive presence on the world stage. It is so wonderful to know that the world is pulling for the light….which I so visibly see in Barack Obama. I recently attended an Obama rally in Detroit….30,000 people. What I observed was the upbeat positive moods and sincere cordiality among the people….not something you normally see in Metro Detroit. I was very touched to see the vast diversity of the people from so many cultures, ethnicities and age brackets….it really brought me to tears of joy to have the opportunity to be a witness to it all. I have not attended a McCain rally and will not, however, from what I see on the television, there is minuscule diversity in his audiences. Thank you so much for sharing your information with all of us on this side of the world!
Thanks much,
Carole

I am sitting here feeling really sad about the swift boating of Barack by the GOP money machine and that barackuda Sarah Palin I pray that americans will see through their vicious lies. I am a white elder and have seen so many hopes dashed I pray that this time will be different.
