A Letter to The President

Dear Mr. President:

As one familiar with social networking, you no doubt are aware that many of your loyal supporters have spontaneously agreed that the perfect Keynote speaker at the upcoming Democratic National Convention should be Professor Elizabeth Warren.  We remember how inspired, encouraged, and motivated we were by the Keynote Address you gave in 2004.  We feel that the next Keynoter must tap into the same enthusiasm, hope, and determination that you have generated if our national quest for that “more perfect union” is to continue.  Professor Warren seems ideally suited for this assignment.

Her outgoing, enthusiastic attitude is infectious, and seems to attract others to her.  Her exceptional skill at communicating naturally and straightforwardly with voters leaves them feeling that she understands their problems and commits herself to working on their behalf.  She has the rare ability to “translate” seemingly esoteric topics into language they understand. Having taught at several levels, she has honed her abilities to anticipate and to address the concerns of voters who, in many respects, remain students, regardless of their age.  Voters across a wide political spectrum identify with her and trust her.  They see her as one of their own.

Although men as well as women admire and respect her, her many roles – professional, familial, and political – inspire women of all ages.  What a role model she is for young women!  This is most important at a time when women’s reproductive rights and control over their own bodies and lives face many threats.  Although few of us would vote for a woman simply because she is one, we would be thrilled if the “right person” for future leadership at the highest levels of government happens to be female. She may question her celebrity, but there is no doubt that people want to see and hear her.  She could attract many to Charlotte’s Convention venues who are not there as delegates or elected officials, but who are eager to share in the send-off to your re-election.

As a North Carolinian and your loyal supporter, this is particularly important to me:  At this moment, the state seems it could go either Republican or Democratic.  Elizabeth Warren, in tandem with your own considerable strengths and popularity, could be a major player in ensuring that North Carolina remains Democratic in 2012.

We respect your prerogative to choose the person whom you consider the ideal Keynote speaker.  We hope that Elizabeth Warren will be that choice, but whomever you choose will also have our wholehearted attention and support.  Thank you for all you do for the USA and its peoples.  I believe I speak for my fellow Carolinians in assuring you of the warmest of Carolina welcomes when you return to Charlotte!

Telling Thoughts

The decision to write to the President was motivated by the incredibly favorable public reaction to the suggestion that Elizabeth Warren was the ideal Democrat  for the role of Keynote Speaker at the DNC National Convention. As a result a petition has been organized as a vehicle to allow Obama supporters and Independents to publicly express their support for Professor Warren.

Whilst the Petition itself is only a matter of days old, the quality of incoming comments remains unchanged. A cursory glance reveals  consistent levels of enthusiasm with which supporters are describing her integrity, skills, knowledge, and tenacity among other qualities. And how  in glowing terms they view her political future and her determination to make a difference.

It is clear that with Elizabeth Warren at the podium supporting the President, the campaign to re-elect will generate interest in the Democrats like never before. The GOP would absolutely dread her elevation for they fear her potential as a future political adversary. It is quite possible that Elizabeth’s Keynote speech crowned by the President’s nomination acceptance speech could prove to be the catalyst which energizes voters and volunteers to such a degree that it returns control of the Congress to the Democrats.

Thanking You

  2. Elizabeth Warren is an inspiration to both women and men. When I first heard her speak, I quickly felt that I could relate to her! She was one of “us”! What a great feeling. She is my type of candidate, someone I can relate to and I feel I can talk to and TRUST! I would be proud to have her as a keynote speaker at the DNC convention and hopefully see her move upward as our wonderful president did! Spread the word if you believe in Elizabeth Warren, too!
