Mr Obama’s Date With Destiny

The understandable euphoria which surrounded Barack Obama’s election as the first man of colour to reach the White House as President, tended to disguise the fact that the 2008 Presidential election was won by the brightest, the most qualified and the most appealing candidate. Voters, many for the first time, were interested enough to examine and study the Obama candidacy and what it potentially offered.

Cometh the Hour / Cometh the Man

Just the kind of safe hands America needs over the next eight years to right the ship of state after eight years of the worst Presidency in living memory. The kind of safe hands and clear thinking Obama will employ to chart a new course to restore confidence in the economy via workable policy injections requiring targeted and limited regulation within segments of America’s financial markets. Measures specifically designed to kickstart and rebuild a vibrant and improved economic model from the entrails of a wrecked and crooked financial system.

My Holiday with McCain

Needless to say I was irritated at his large ego, and his rude behavior towards his wife and other women, but decided he must have some redeeming qualities as he had adopted a handicapped child from Bangladesh. I asked him about this one day and his response was shocking -“Oh, that was Cindy’s idea – I didn’t have anything to do with it. She just went and adopted this thing without even asking me. You can’t imagine how people stare when I wheel this ugly, black thing around in a shopping cart in Arizona. No, it wasn’t my idea at all.”

Taking the Obama Road

As we have come to learn, things don’t always work out as originally planned. That’s when old sayings are dragged out to give reason. The sardonic smartypants jokes like,”It’s Murphy’s Law”or” The best laid plans go astray”.This was one of those times. Instead of being able to write at a leisurely pace, I was about to enter a high pressure literary and political reporting race requiring a lot of homework, and a highly disciplined workload.

Clinton’s Convention Oration / Beware!

I won’t apologise for attempting to seize the nomination. Only I can beat McCain. No one is going to beat a Clinton. Bill and I know how to play hardball. We play to win, no rules, whatever it takes. There will be no “fairytales” for Barack Obama – Friends, Democrats and Countrymen – This is your comeback queen – Yes I Am – I think?

Awaken The Sleeping Giant

The current catchcry from the Democrats and the disillusioned is “We need to take back our country”.Very noble, I’m sure. Sounds like something straight from the movie “Braveheart,” invoking images of raging Scots charging across the battlefield towards the English army and oblivion at Culloden in 1746, in a desperate final and failed fling, to rid themselves of an English King. Americans historically can identify with that goal.

“A Fruit Market in France” Obama Supporter Letter

I jokingly held my finger to my lip, “Shhh.” Seriously, who wants to advertise their Americaness these days? This larger-than-life man with a jolly smile threw his hands up in the air, pointed down to me and said to all around, “She’s American!!” He then said boisterously, “Look, we like you, we still love America, we just hate your president.” I tried my hardest to convince him, “He’s not my president.”He and others around me said, “Yes he is.

Why The World needs Obama / Not McCain

American leaders need to appreciate that any attempt to impose their brand of democracy on others, unless invited is bound to fail. Democracy means different things to different people and is often in conflict with centuries old cultural and religious divides in many parts of the world. One size does not need to fit all, to achieve a more tolerant and peaceful world. Change always takes time, engagement, example, trust and understanding

Whereto from here for Clinton?

What does the future hold for Hillary Clinton? It’s the number one question on her supporter’s lips and a subject which attracts the interest of people everywhere. It’s also sells a lot of newspapers and magazines and lifts the TV ratings. As a result of the Democratic Primaries, Hillary Clinton is even more famous, just for being Hillary Clinton.

How to Close Camp Clinton

This places Barack Obama and the Democratic Party in an intolerable position. Yet one simple step may resolve the problem. It involves the Obama campaign inviting their delegates and superdelegates to forward their Obama endorsement via a statutory declaration valid to November 30th 2008. A copy of the document to be lodged at the Party’s National HQ within 7 days. A statutory declaration carrying the endorsement would not be subject to change during its currency.
