Never in the experience of Americans, particularly older African Americans, did they by their own admission, ever imagine such a result was possible. At Grant Park and across America, tears of unadulterated joy flooded the cheeks of young and old, rich and poor, and all manner of people who in their ethnic and racial diversity comprise the population of the United States. As the euphoria grew, it triggered a joyful release of long pent up and very deep feelings.Their emotion was palpable, moving and beautiful to see. This was humanity at its finest.Change came to America, on that momentous November night!
Who would want such responsiblity at such a time? He does. Who could ever face such challenges? He has to date. Who is capable of meeting them? He is. Who will be America’s next leader? On November 4th 2008 it must be Barack Obama. He has shown the way.
The impulsive warmonger John McCain rushes to judgement, Barack Obama does not. People are beginning to understand, that unlike McCain, Obama weighs things carefully, he consults with experts, he asks quality questions, and then as his record shows, he usually makes a good decision. He acts like a modern leader. This builds confidence.
But as bad judgement would have it, in looking for a running mate you got “impalined” by lipstick. The Alaskan red on a pitbull look. A little too aggressive for Estee Lauder to sell I believe. John since you’ve been palinised, you now seem paralysed. Why in the name of Arizona John, would you choose a running mate like Sarah Palin, aka, Barracuda?
John McCain keeps saying, “I know how to deal with Bin Laden, I know how to”get” him. I’ve got the experience”. This is crazy stuff from McCain, and unfortunately Barack let this claim go unchallenged. Maybe he believes that most people can see through this McCain nonsense. Think about it. If McCain knows how to”get” Bin Laden as he puts it, why hasn’t he let his Commander in chief and good friend President Bush or anyone else into the secret. Bush and the American military top brass need to hear “McCain’s” strategy for nailing Osama Bin Laden. Somehow I think they’ll be waiting a long time.
Wow,Sarah, that is impressive. That’s really early career planning. Even then you were considering a life of beauty contests, sports broadcasting or with luck and one of your stock standard smiles, charging through the bearpit of politics. Winning in politics is like fighting with a bear, Sarah. You know a lot about bears, you’ve killed so many. However in politics, there’s no prize for second place and guns aren’t allowed. Right, Ms Barracuda?
Just the kind of safe hands America needs over the next eight years to right the ship of state after eight years of the worst Presidency in living memory. The kind of safe hands and clear thinking Obama will employ to chart a new course to restore confidence in the economy via workable policy injections requiring targeted and limited regulation within segments of America’s financial markets. Measures specifically designed to kickstart and rebuild a vibrant and improved economic model from the entrails of a wrecked and crooked financial system.
Although McCain has been in the Senate since 1987 people don’t really know the real McCain. He has promoted an image. That image is tarnished, but it needs to be completely stripped. Personally I would begin by painting McCain as the crazy Dr Strangelove character he threatens to be. Remember the movie and the role played by Peter Sellers? This is no movie.
As we have come to learn, things don’t always work out as originally planned. That’s when old sayings are dragged out to give reason. The sardonic smartypants jokes like,”It’s Murphy’s Law”or” The best laid plans go astray”.This was one of those times. Instead of being able to write at a leisurely pace, I was about to enter a high pressure literary and political reporting race requiring a lot of homework, and a highly disciplined workload.
Where has the “US leads the way” spirit of the 1960’s America gone? The “we can do anything attitude” that made America the envy of the world? The smiling faces, the confident walk, the pride in one’s country. An America which demanded, sought and sweated for a better life and achieved it with one income per family in record time, after the horrors and sacrifices of World War two.
