John Hay is an Australian citizen with extensive past business and political experience in national affairs.

In 1986 he co - founded the Australian Federation of Employers in partnership with John Leard, Chairman of ANI Australia.  At the time Leard was regarded as Australia’s most respected and successful CEO.  Originally a Hay initiave, he convinced Leard of the need to replace a failed Confederation of Australian Industry, Australia’s peak employer body at the time, with a new organisation to better serve the needs and interests of Australian Business. 

In 1987 Hay founded and became National Chairman of the Australian Free Enterprise Foundation. Designed to improve small business representation at the national level, the Foundation attained a membership of more than 20,000 businesses in its first few months of operation.
