The Vision Splendid

The Invesco Field stadium, home of the Denver Broncos, a sporting arena more attuned to the frenzied roars of the home team fans, felt a new rhythm today, as long held and deep emotions bought tears of joy and hope and much excitement to many hearts, young and old, all motivated by different life experiences, but one shared dream.

The Countdown in Colorado!

New Jersey’s call bought the house down.”Madam Chairman, the great state of New Jersey with 127 votes casts all 127 votes for the next President of the United States, Senator Barack Obama! The place exploded. Thousands of “Yes we cans” drowned out the speakers. When things settled, New Mexico followed and after the earlier stuff up in the NM Primaries when three ballot boxes went missing for two days, I was keen to hear their vote. It didn’t happen.

The Man from Montana / Ropes McCain!

The thing that was outstanding about this Governor’s address, the thing that was so appealing, was its spontaneity, his enthusiasm and his robust animation. He lit up the crowd. They were electrified and swept away. The convention had caught fire at last. Bill Clinton had a grin 5 feet wide and was blown away, so was Joe Biden and and every other VIP.

The Message from Day One

I am sure Bill Clinton will revel in the limelight on Wednesday. He could do the campaign a big favour if he rips into John McCain with no holds barred. Maybe Barack has this role planned for him. Barack wants to win, he doesn’t mind sharing credit. On Thursday Barack Obama will have to deal with specifics and show people what he will do for them and the country. He must layout in strong words what America will look like under McCain, domestically and internationally.

VP Checked / Now for Checkmate!

If the American people ever wanted or needed further proof or confirmation of the judgement skills of Senator Barack Obama, it arrived impressively, on the twenty third day of August 2008, in Springfield Illinois. Perhaps within metres of where Abraham Lincoln stood. One thing we did learn during the campaign, is that whenever Obama is involved, substance is always supported with just the right balance of imagery. American voters have much to look forward to as his policy decisions unfold and bear fruit with the same sense of surety as his campaign.

August Nights & Obama Days

Giving Bill Clinton a speaking role has provided him with an ideal platform from which to damn Obama with faint praise. In effect to do a Mark Antony. Clinton with his gift for words (truth never gets in the way) could undermine Obama so surgically in the eyes of near recovering Hillary supporters and superdelegates as to suggest that having her name placed on the roll is evidence that the nomination process remains open.

From Olympic Coach & Glory to Greater Things

After years of gut wrenching work and personal sacrifice, the disappointment felt by some athletes can be quite overwhelming. As correctly identified by the AOC, these are times when an experienced Liaison Officer can play an important role in helping an athlete through a rough emotional period.Every member of the Australian team knows they can depend on Lawrie Lawrence being there for them. Reassuring them while picking up the pieces, focusing on the positives, re-igniting the spirit, always looking forward with words of support and encouragement.

A letter to Hillary Clinton

I cannot believe you. You are doing irreversible damage to the Democratic party. Having your name in the nomination at the convention make you look like a sore loser. And yes you have eighteen million people behind you, but so does he. And if he loses, we will remember how you treated Barack. We can […]

Taking the Obama Road

As we have come to learn, things don’t always work out as originally planned. That’s when old sayings are dragged out to give reason. The sardonic smartypants jokes like,”It’s Murphy’s Law”or” The best laid plans go astray”.This was one of those times. Instead of being able to write at a leisurely pace, I was about to enter a high pressure literary and political reporting race requiring a lot of homework, and a highly disciplined workload.

Campaigning in Nevada * The Hillary Videos!

Looking a lot more relaxed than in the Primaries, HRC did a fine job in Nevada. I think she is angling for the job as the Secretary for Health in an Obama administration. I have no problems with that, providing she is genuine in her support for Obama. She won’t get a better offer at the moment – I am sure. Clinton’s Nevada performance showed how much better she is without that no good lying husband of hers hanging about.
